Holy smokes…

Series 3 is upon us on “The Journey to Conscious Healthcare”

I’ve been getting people reaching out to me who have been struggling to understand the NDIS, a real shock right?

I didn’t think so, because of this I’ve taken the initiative to put together an educational series that can help people make sense of it all.

That’s why this series is called “NDIS 101; the blueprint you've been looking for about how and what to do to navigate the NDIS”

This week’s episode is a solo one called “A brief NDIS overview: Understanding the big pieces of the NDIS puzzle first”

Today we Discuss:

- Accessing the NDIS - where to go to

- Partners in the community

(Mission Australia, Feros Care & Baptcare)

- Types of roles involved in helping you (Support Coordinators, Plan Managers & other services)

- From person to 'participant'

- Getting an NDIS Plan

- Understanding the three buckets of funding (core supports, capital supports & capacity building supports aka allied health services)

- Basic involvement of Local area coordinators (LAC)

- Community liaison officer (CLO) and overview of what they do

- How Support Coordinators guide and link you to services

- Linking to services (plan managers, support workers & therapies)

- Importance of plan goals and services aligning

- How service agreements 'unlock' funding from your plan

- Understanding under the umbrella of the buckets how to use the line items to get what you need

- The 'ideal' NDIS cycle (get plan, for a duration, receive a report, plan review)

Thought provoking ideas and conversations:

- What did or do you wish you knew or had access to when accessing the NDIS for yourself or someone you know?

- What do you think needs to be explained better in the NDIS?

Future episodes will cover:

- Accessing the NDIS

- How to start your plan

- How to connect ot services & who to connect with

- What NDIS reports should look like

- How to achieve your goals

- What to do for an NDIS Plan Review

Special Mentions:

Jacinta Dempsey - Mission Australia Whyalla

National Disability Insurance Agency

Conscious Healthcare SA
